Skydiver plummets to his death in New Jersey backyard

Skydiving is an activity that polarizes many New Jersey residents. While some people might relish the chance to jump out of a plane, others might be completely against the idea. It is not something that is without risk, of course; for some people, that is the appeal. But when an accidental death comes as a result of a skydiving accident, it is likely to make even would-be daredevils sit up and take notice.

Earlier this month, a 49-year-old man who had jumped out of a plane operated by a skydiving company based in Monroe was killed when he landed in a Monroe Township backyard. Several families in the neighborhood witnessed the accident, which took place on Easter Sunday, but were unable to help the man. He had reportedly done hundreds of jumps prior to his fatal fall.

According to authorities, the man was wearing a wing suit, which permits skydivers to move forward as they are descending toward the ground. It isn’t yet clear if the equipment the man was using had anything to do with his death. It was not the first time a person was killed in an accident while jumping out of the company’s plane; a man died in 2011 in a skydiving accident.

When someone is killed in an accident, the surviving family members will want to have a full accounting of the circumstances that led up to the death. An experienced wrongful death attorney might be of assistance to help a grieving family through this process.
